About Us:
Join our dedicated team at KLC Counselling & Play Therapy, with offices in Hervey Bay and Maryborough, QLD. We specialise in personalised, neuroaffirming, trauma-informed, child-centred therapy, offering Child-Centred Play Therapy for children aged 3 to 12 years and humanistic counselling for adolescents aged 12 to 18, to address a range of mental health concerns.
We are seeking passionate professionals committed to providing exceptional, trauma-informed support to children and families, including parent coaching and family guidance from birth to 18 years. Position Requirements:
- Accredited qualifications in counselling, social work, or play therapy.
- Registered or in the process of registering with ACA, PTPA, APPTA, and/or PACFA (provisional registration is acceptable) and adherence to ethical and professional standards.
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
- Self-management skills to handle client load, including therapy sessions, parent reviews, report writing, case conferences, etc.
- Strong note-keeping skills; familiarity with best practices, in-depth case analysis, self-reflection, and legal requirements.
- Professional and respectful communication skills with families/carers and support services, focusing on systemic change.
- Commitment to privacy and confidentiality.
- Support KLC Counselling & Play Therapy’s vision and ethos of providing high-quality, holistic support tailored to each family’s needs.
- Highly organised, self-motivated, and capable of working independently.
- High standards of personal ethics and a commitment to continuous professional development.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Desired Characteristics:
- At least two years of experience working therapeutically with children and families.
- Training in parenting programs such as Circle of Security, Child Parent Relationship Therapy (CPRT), or Tuning in to Kids.
- Familiarity with Splose appointment scheduling software or similar.
Therapist Responsibilities:
- Hold or be willing to obtain an ABN (contractor only).
- Obtain a current National Police Check.
- Hold a current Working with Children Check clearance.
- Obtain personal public liability and professional indemnity insurance (contractor only).
- Organise and participate in regular supervision with a registered Play Therapy/Counselling supervisor.
- Hold a First Aid and CPR Certificate.
