Parent/Guardian Support & Consultation Services
What is parent support?
Most often, our referrals come from families or services requesting ongoing therapy sessions or a block of sessions for their child. Some families also seek a consultation to discuss their child's needs, unsure if this will lead to therapy.
Parent Progress Sessions:
During your child's therapy journey, we provide regular feedback to keep the whole family informed and involved. These sessions help us assess therapy effectiveness within home or school settings, discussing emerging themes and positive changes. We explore how to support the child outside sessions through practical strategies in daily environments.
Consultation Sessions:
For parents needing additional guidance or advice, we offer tailored resources and support. Our therapists facilitate one-on-one or group programs like "Tuning in to Kids," and "Child-Parent Relationship/Filial Therapy."
Some families may have specific concerns or topics to discuss, opting for short-term or ongoing consultations without their child attending therapy. We typically start with a 30 or 60-minute session to discuss behaviours or worries, helping us determine the most suitable next steps, whether with us or another service.
